However, they are missing the most important benefits. Resistance and aerobic training have been proven to improve cognitive function and treat, or even prevent, cancer and diabetes.

At first look, a rock wall can seem intimidating! Its looming height can cause some hesitation among future climbers. However, the physical and mental benefits of rock climbing far outweigh any initial apprehension. In the 2020 Summer Olympics, competitive sport climbing made its debut. This event included speed climbing, bouldering and lead climbing, which captivated a new and now growing audience around the world. With the increasing curiosity about rock climbing, let's dive into the benefits people can expect to see when they get started.

Fun with the SRWC Run Club!

Are you someone who prefers a partnered-workout rather than a solo sesh? If so, then joining the Run Club would be perfect for you! The Run Club is a great way to become a larger part of the Long Beach State University (LBSU) community while getting your exercise in! The Run Club consists of a group of people who gather at the Entry Plaza of the Student Recreation & Wellness Center (SRWC) on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month!

Run Fast and Jump Far: Introducing the SRWC Combine

Will you be a top competitor? The Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC) Combine will make its first appearance on Nov. 10, at 5 p.m. in SRWC’s Main Gym A. Inspired by the National Football League’s (NFL) Scouting Combine, the SRWC Combine takes this concept and runs with it––pun intended!

Love Your Body Week is a week dedicated to body positivity, self-acceptance and overall wellness. The goal is for all people to have a positive self-image however, societal standards as well as events outside of one’s control can make it difficult at times. The events of Love Your Body Week center on body positive ideals which can assist in building confidence as well as encourage those that participate to love and accept themselves.
