SoCal Spotlight Rancho Los Alamitos

Rancho Los Alamitos, also known as the “Ranch of the Little Cottonwoods,” is located right here in the city of Long Beach. It boasts rich, American history and has subsequently been deemed worthy of preservation by the National Register of Historic Places. The destination offers an enjoyable variety of activities which include events such as their Floral Workshop, or signing up to tour their beautiful gardens and walk through the historic ranch house, or my favorite part - visiting with the farm animals.

If you like learning about local American history, the Rancho has will undoubtedly satisfy that itch. They have a record of history that dates back around 1500 years. During your tour, you will learn about the awesome history of the native Tongva people and more!

The preserved land covers over four acres of property which is filled with beautiful historic gardens that are significant to the location. Furthermore, you’ll be able to inspect a ranch house that dates back to the 1800’s and compare it to their restored barnyard from the early twentieth century. These outstanding aspects of the Rancho are worth the visit alone.

However, if the history or gardens don’t peak your interest, you can still enjoy your visit spending time with the farm animals. The Rancho has horses, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, and rabbits for you to hang out with in the barns area. Getting time to interact with animals is great fun and neat experience that I highly recommend if you’re looking to destress. If anything they will certainly to put a smile on your face.

The rancho is open to the public by reservation only. You can schedule a visit, Wednesday through Sunday, between the times of 1 and 5 p.m. This small local adventure is great for all ages from children and adults and the best part is that it’s completely free! Parking and admission are at no cost which is astonishing considering all that the Rancho includes.
