The ASI-run Student Recreation and Wellness Center had its grand opening on September 20, 2010. In its five years since opening, the SRWC has been home to many great instructors, but the six spotlighted have been here since the start. ASI Recreation thanks them for their commitment and service to the Long Beach SRWC community. Take a moment to learn about why they’ve stayed!

Nat Hansuvadha

Nat Hansuvadha

Nat Hansuvadha has worked at five different fitness centers and studios, but has stayed with the SRWC for five years because of its vast variety of opportunities and resources.

“The SRWC is an amazing state-of-the-art facility and I feel at home teaching kickboxing and abs classes here,” said Hansuvadha. “We have a professional group of staff at SRWC, who have been responsive to and supportive of the instructors.”

Hansuvadha enjoys the fitness classes that the SRWC continues to add, as well as the added services like massages, biofeedback and nutrition workshops.

“I absolutely love teaching here!” Hansuvadha exclaimed. “I teach in the Pura Vida room overlooking the sand volleyball courts and swimming pool – can’t beat that view, especially at sunset!”

Lindsay Del Rossi

Lindsay Del Rossi

Lindsay Del Rossi has stayed with the SRWC for five years because of the atmosphere and energy brought by the students.

Del Rossi teaches spin classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, and the students’ energy has kept her going.

“I keep getting older and the students stay the same age!” Del Rossi joked. “The music has changed from pop, to hip-hop, to dubstep, back to house and techno. I am always asking the students to share their music ideas with me so I can keep the energy and excitement for class amped!”

Ray Waters

Ray Waters

Ray Waters has taught spin classes at the SRWC for the past years and continues to do so because of the CSULB ideal of community.

“When I can get people into the SRWC and get their day going with a good cardio workout, it gives me a strong sense of fulfillment being part of the CSULB community that I felt was ‘there’ although the exigencies of life keep getting in the way,” said Waters.

Having been a former student at CSULB, leading spin classes, and working as a lecturer at CSULB, Waters has witnessed our sense of community grow stronger in these past five years. “It breaks my heart, even after five years as a spin instructor, to learn that many of my academic students have never set foot inside the SRWC!” exclaimed Waters. “While unfortunately, most of us live with a negative sense of human isolation, the SRWC is real and welcoming to all.”

Siri Delaney

Siri Delaney

Siri Delaney enjoys teaching the Flow Yoga class at the SRWC because of the students and the energy, excitement and interest they bring.

“The SRWC is interested in the students and their needs,” Delaney said. “They are great with adding programs and classes that are being asked for and take both teachers and student requests into consideration which make it a better place each year.”

Delaney enjoys seeing her regular students each week as well as new students that pop in to try her class.

“This is a welcome environment where I feel trusted as a teacher,” Delaney said. “I have lots of freedom to be creative with how and what I teach.”

Linda Buchbinder

Linda Buchbinder

Linda Buchbinder has stayed with the SRWC for five years because of the opportunity she has to impact the lives of students.

“I strive to be a little sparkle of light in each student's day!” exclaimed Buchbinder. “It gives me great pleasure and joy to be part of the CSULB community!”

Buchbinder finds her job teaching spin classes at the SRWC as life-giving and fulfilling because of the interaction she has with students. She views the opportunity as one to have positive influence in students' lives.

“It’s all about the joy,” Buchbinder said. “That's what I feel when I come to the [SRWC].”

Bre Perry

Bre Perry

Bre Perry has trained students at the SRWC for the past five years because of the impact students, employees and CSULB community continues to make on her.

“The hardworking positive energy the members bring to every class is so motivating,” Perry said. “They push me to find new ways to challenge them.”

The people Bre is surrounded by offer a motivating, positive atmosphere – something that is unique to the SRWC.

“Working as a group together to conquer their individual goals in a team setting is so amazing to see!” Perry exclaimed.
